Axial flux motors have been around for many years but only recently have become a popular choice in in automotive applications. This presentation reviews the different type of axial flux motors and their application and manufacturing challenges.
Dr Michael Lampérth graduated from Winterthur Polytechnic, Switzerland, in 1989 followed by a MSc (1996) and a PhD in 1999 from Imperial College London. He continued his academic career at Imperial College as a lecturer until 2010. Michael was the founder and CTO of Imperial College spin-out company Evo-Electric Ltd. Following the formation to the joint venture with GKN he led the development and industrialization of axial flux motor solutions for the automotive market as CTO of the JV. He left GKN EVO late 2015 and formed Phi-Power AG to accelerate the development of axial flux motor technology.
Phi-Power AG was founded in 2016 by Dr. Michael Lampérth the founder of EVO Electric to develop the next generation of Axial Flux Machines. With an experienced team the company designed a product range of high performance axial flux motors for a wide range of applications ranging from racing to industrial vehicles.
