Real Time Locating Systems (10:45 - 12:25)

10:45 - 11:10 "RTLS: Using Near-Field Electromagnetic Ranging (NFER®)"
Near-field electromagnetic ranging (NFER) technology is emerging as a preferred real-time locating system (RTLS) solution for operation in complicated indoor propagation environments. Operating at low frequencies, typically within the AM broadcast band (530-1710kHz), NFER systems exploit the near-field behavior of radio signals within about one-third of a wavelength. This paper explores the behavior of NFER signals and the performance of NFER systems.

11:10 - 11:35 "Delivering value to automotive manufacturing through precise location solutions"
* Case Study; Improved performance in Automotive finishing

*Case Study; Enhancing production of electronic automotive components

11:35 - 12:00 "RFID RTLS and Yard Management, Increasing the Visibility"
• Problem Definition in the Distribution Center Yard
• What is RTLS: Benefits, applications, technologies
  • Technical evaluation criteria
  • Implementations with Active-RFID and Passive RFID
  • Technology comparisons
• RTLS vs. Yard Management
  • How to choose a starting point
• Quantifying Benefits

12:00 - 12:25 "Applications of Local Positioning Systems based on Precision Ultra-Wideband RF technology in healthcare and retail"
• General overview of the benefits of UWB based location systems over other active and passive technologies
• ROI discussion from an actual Time Domain deployment in a nursing home to monitor the safety and well being of elder patients in a dementia ward.

12:25 Lunch and Networking Break

The third annual Active RFID, Real Time Locating Systems and Sensor Networks event from IDTechEx
