Flexible and Stretchable Electronics

Critical business intelligence covering forecasts, players, case studies, opportunities and technology and market assessment

This forum will focus on the emerging materials and devices enabling new flexible and stretchable form factors, covering applications in displays, sensors, batteries and solar cells. The forum will discuss specific requirements for each market segment and the underlying technologies.

OLED displays are one of the fastest growing sectors in the display industry. Manufacturers have already started a transition to plastic substrates which offer the benefits of being thinner, lighter and more robust because no glass is used. An example is the OLED display on plastic in the Apple watch. The next phase will lead to conformable and flexible displays, which will all result in a market exceeding $30 billion in 2027.

These are just part of an industry involving flexible, printed and organic electronics which includes photovoltaic technology such as perovskites, as well as flexible batteries used in wearable technology gadgets and healthcare patches. Stretchable electronic materials are also coming to market, enabling new products and innovative manufacturing processes.

The introduction of widespread wearable technology within consumer electronics markets has been one defining feature of the last three years. Many of these products have been direct derivatives of technology from the mobile phone, using commodity components and a 'components-in-a-box' design. However, a lot of effort is now directed at integration in textile, leading to a new generation of electronic textile (e-textile). This session will give a critical and up to date view of the current state of the industry.

What you will learn?

All of these sectors comprise of a complex and rapidly changing technology and market landscape, which can make it difficult to identify genuine opportunities for companies involved or wishing to get involved or to see the current state of play.

This forum addresses both the business and technologies involved - providing deep depth including significant market data to allow you to understand these complex landscapes. Attendees will leave with a clear, quantified view of the markets, technology assessment and development roadmaps, key player profiles and their strategy for market adoption, with lessons from success and failures.

The forum is hosted by IDTechEx, which is widely cited as a global expert on these topics. Research is based on direct interviews with companies, in addition to attendance of conferences and tradeshows around the world. IDTechEx analysts are deeply technical (typically PhD level) and commercially experienced, conducting research from bases in Europe, Asia and USA in eight languages. This event is targeted to those involved in growth strategy, business development, research and engineering, innovation management. It is attended by companies involved in material supply, equipment manufacture, component and device manufacture, OEMs and systems integrators.

This forum can be attended on its own or in addition to the other sessions, which are complementary in subject matter. A discount is available for booking multiple sessions.

For those attending.
