Real time remote monitoring based on IIoT offers industry the opportunity to improve uptime and reduce failure rates of valuable assets. It also enables cost-effective condition-based maintenance to be introduced. Battery operated wireless sensors are easy to deploy for monitoring but must make effective use of communication links and have acceptable power consumption. Processing raw data on the sensor node using enables low-power, narrow band communication links to be used and ensures that power and computational resource usage is optimised.
Dr Roddy Urquhart joined Flicq in 2018 and currently head Flicq's EMEA business. In this role he is responsible for addressing industrial applications in industries such as maritime, oil & gas, utilities, transportation and mining.
Prior to Flicq, Roddy held a variety of sales, marketing and business unit management positions at Synopsys, Cortus and Codasip design. This involved leading teams addressing design needs in semiconductors for wireless, mobile phone infrastructure, smartcards and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
He graduated in electronics & electrical engineering and obtained a Ph.D. in pattern recognition at the University of Glasgow.
Flicq provides remote condition monitoring solutions for industrial applications through a complete IIoT service. Wireless smart sensors with edge computing capability means that asset owners can be warned of unhealthy conditions before a failure takes place thus enabling cost savings, productivity and safety gains. Longer term trends can be identified using the Flicq Cloud. Flicq supports a choice of wireless connectivity including Wi-Fi, 3G/4G cellular, LoRaWAN and NB-IoT.
Flicq's monitoring solutions are applicable to the following industries:
• Oil & gas
• Maritime
• Water and electric utilities
• Mining
• Transport
Flicq offers sensor platforms for:
• Vibration
• Acoustic
• Ultrasonic
• Current/power
• Environmental
