Speaker Biography (Terry Ye)

Dr. Terry Ye is the Director of Research and Technology Development of Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies (LSCM R&D Centre). He is an expert in RFID research, development and application that include protocol development, system engineering, IC chip design and embedded system designs. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University and Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from Tsinghua University (Beijing). Dr. Ye has more than 15 years of industry and research experience in RFID, wireless communication and VLSI. He was actively involved in the maturation and implementation of EPCGlobal RFID standards and protocol development. As a key technology staff at Impinj Inc. he played a critical role in the development of the world's first RFID Gen2 tag chip and reader system. Besides his expertise in RFID, Dr. Ye also has long time experience in VLSI ASIC designs, electronic design automation (EDA) and systems-on-chip (SoC). Prior to Impinj, he had held various engineering and consulting roles at Synopsys Inc., Magma Design Automation Inc., Silicon Architects Inc and many other Silicon Valley companies.

Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies (LSCM R&D Centre) is one of the six R&D centres funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission of HKSAR Government. Established on 20 April 2006, the LSCM R&D Centre is commissioned to foster the development of core competencies in applied R&D in logistics and supply chain related technologies and facilitate adoption of these technologies by industries in Hong Kong and mainland China. The LSCM R&D Centre is hosted by three leading universities in Hong Kong: The University of Hong Kong; The Chinese University of Hong Kong; and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The LSCM R&D Centre facilitates industries to move up the value chain by providing a one-stop service for applied research, technology transfer and commercialization. The long-term goal of the LSCM R&D Centre is to strengthen Hong Kong's economic competitiveness and to enhance its technology leadership in the logistics and supply chain management industry.
