Internet of Things and Applications to Supply Chain Management (Wireless Sensor Networks, Energy Harvesting and RFID Asia 2010)

Dr. Frank Tong is the Director of Research and Technology Development of Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies (LSCM R&D Centre). He heads up the R&D programmes of the Centre in the areas of infrastructure & applications technologies. He also helps to define and drive the research roadmap of the Centre, with the focus of technology innovation and enablement for the benefits of the local industry. Dr. Tong's area of interests includes logistics and supply chain management technologies, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID), wireless security, mobile computing in e-business applications as well as the web-based technologies for business process integration and service provisioning. Dr. Tong works closely with the industry, understands their needs and conducts research for solutions. Over the past years, Dr. Tong successfully secured multiple projects of major research and development funding from the Innovation and Technology Fund and SME Development Fund. He is keen on attracting R&D funding, building up partnership, innovating for technological solutions and products, and transferring results to industrial applications.

Hong Kong R&D Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management Enabling Technologies (LSCM R&D Centre) is one of the six R&D centres funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission of HKSAR Government. Established on 20 April 2006, the LSCM R&D Centre is commissioned to foster the development of core competencies in applied R&D in logistics and supply chain related technologies and facilitate adoption of these technologies by industries in Hong Kong and mainland China. The LSCM R&D Centre is hosted by three leading universities in Hong Kong: The University of Hong Kong; The Chinese University of Hong Kong; and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. The LSCM R&D Centre facilitates industries to move up the value chain by providing a one-stop service for applied research, technology transfer and commercialization. The long-term goal of the LSCM R&D Centre is to strengthen Hong Kong's economic competitiveness and to enhance its technology leadership in the logistics and supply chain management industry.
