Speaker Biography (Ghassan Jabbour)Ghassan E. Jabbour, Ph.D is the Director of Research-Optoelectronic Materials and Devices thrust at the Flexible Display Center (FDC), Director of ASU Advanced Photovoltaics Center, and a Professor of the School of Materials at Arizona State University. He is also the Technical Advisory Board Leader on Optoelectronic Materials, Devices and Encapsulation at FDC. He has been selected to the Asahi Shimbun 100 New Leaders of the USA and he received the Presidential Award for Excellence from the Hariri Foundation in 1997. Professor Jabbour is the Associate Editor of the Journal of the Society for Information Displays (JSID). He was the Track Chair of the Nanotechnology Program for the SPIE Annual Meeting (2001-2004), and the Secretary General for the Materials Secretariat of the American Chemical Society (2001). Professor Jabbour is a Guest Editor for the MRS Bulletin issue on Organic Photovoltaics (January 2005). He is also the chair and/or co-chair and on the committees of over 100 conferences related to photonic and electronic properties as well as printing of electronic and photonic materials and devices. Professor Jabbour attended Northern Arizona University, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and the University of Arizona. Prof Jabbour's recent research projects include work on Flexible Nanothick Electronics and Photonics; Nanocomposite Photovoltaic Materials and Devices; Nano and Macro Printed and Patterned Optical, Electronic and Optoelectronic Materials and Devices; Optimization of OLEDs Performance and Integration; Optics and Materials Science of Thin Films and Nanostructures; Combinatorial Techniques in Photonic and Electronic Materials Discovery; Photosensitive Materials for Optoelectronic Applications; Chemical and biological Sensors; Prof. Jabbour has more than 400 papers, invited talks and proceedings. He holds several patents and has edited several books related to nanotechnology, organic and functional optoelectronics areas. Prof. Jabbour's work has been featured by editors of Nature, Science, MRS Bulletin, Advanced Materials (twice on cover of journal), USA Today, Boston Globe, CNN, FOX News, LA Times, PC magazine, Wired magazine, Laser Focus World, Laser Europe, and many more across the world. Prof. Jabbour is a Fellow of SPIE for his numerous and significant contributions to the field of flexible and organic electronics. He recently became the Finland Distinguished Professor (Academy of Finland) for his pioneering work on printed electronics, photonics, and bioinformatics. In 2006, he received the Best Poster Award (jointly awarded by the National Academy of Engineering/Engineering Academy of Japan/and the Japan Science and Technology Agency).
