Presentation Summary

  • CSIRO's capabilities for designing and assessing materials useful in optoelectronic devices will be discussed.
  • Printing approaches towards the fabrication of three major classes of solar cells will be highlighted: inorganic CZTS, hybrid lead-based organo-halide perovskites, and organic bulk-heterojunctions.

Speaker Biography (Jacek Jasieniak)

Jacek Jasieniak completed his PhD in 2008 at the University of Melbourne in the area of solution processed quantum dot lasers. He then joined CSIRO where he initiated work on nanostructured solar cells using inorganic nanoparticles. His team developed a simple (and scalable) process for making high-efficiency, multi-layer devices. In 2012 he undertook a secondment, enabled by both the Fulbright and the Australian Solar Institute Fellowship schemes, at the University of California Santa Barbara under Nobel Prize winner Prof. Alan Heeger, where he worked towards developing solution processed organic solar cells. Jacek is currently a divisional unit leader at CSIRO, working towards the development of solution-processed optoelectronics.
