Speaker Biography (Paul Vroomen)

Paul Vroomen is an Executive-in-Residence that brings deep semiconductor operating experience to Tallwood, with over 25 years in the semiconductor industry, of which more than 15 have been as CEO of semiconductor start-ups or VP/GM of divisions in publicly traded semiconductor companies. Paul primarily focuses on analyzing and reviewing market and business strategies of prospective and current Tallwood companies.
 
Paul's operating career has been predominantly in microprocessor and digital media related markets. Most recently, Paul was CEO of Connex Technology, where he drove the repositioning of the company into the emerging HDTV market. Prior to Connex, Paul was CEO of SandCraft, Inc., where he changed SandCraft from an IP company into a fabless semiconductor company focusing on the networking, mass storage and printer markets, securing design wins at leading networking companies. Prior to SandCraft, Paul served as VP/GM of operating divisions at Oak Technology, Inc., and VLSI Technology, Inc., where he led those companies' businesses in the digital television, DVD and set top box markets. Prior to this, Paul served as VP/GM of the Computer Peripheral Division at Zilog, Inc. In his earlier years Paul was a chip designer in both bipolar and CMOS technologies, focusing on digital to analog conversion and spread spectrum radio communications chips.
 
Paul holds a B.Sc Eng., cum laude, from the University of the Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, South Africa, and an MSEE from the Philips International Institute in Eindhoven, the Netherlands.
