Electric buses are deeply significant, being a key to the control of urban pollution and often first to adopt innovative parts. Buses have been the largest user of supercapacitors, first to use jet engine range extenders, electric powertrains with no traction batteries and innovative charging and they have tested fuel cells for nearly 30 years.

Buses are now the biggest users of in-wheel motors and they may be the biggest user of energy harvesting shock absorbers and other innovations expected soon. This is because up-front price is less critical than cost over life, performance and green credentials. It is buses that have put the lie to the argument that pure electric powertrains are not viable for large vehicles. This year one order was for 2000 pure electric buses and pure electric articulated and double decker buses have just started to sell. Indeed, in ten years, electric bus sales will exceed the equivalent of 2.5 million electric cars yearly. China alone will replace and add over 10 million buses with electric ones.

Little wonder then that the new IDTechEx Research report, Electric Buses 2015-2025 has received so much interest. Forecasts are for number, unit price and market value 2015-2025 by pure electric vs hybrid, over 8 tonne buses vs under 8 tonne buses and China vs ROW. They are analyzed in the 150+ pages of original summary and analysis, easily grasped by those with limited time. The information has been appraised by our PhD level analysts with long experience and an intensive program of travel to check out the facts. Worldwide, over 100 manufacturers and many recent interviews are covered including EV events in Japan, Taiwan, the USA, UK and Germany in the last few months. This is essential because the subject is moving so fast with the strong technologies, regions, manufacturers etc. changing rapidly. This webinar shares key findings.
