Speaker Biography (Daniel Buning)Daniel Büning is Head of Business Development & Strategy at BigRep GmbH. Under the name of NOWlab@BigRep, Jörg Petri and Daniel Büning are responsible for innovation in materials and applied research to develop cross-sector customized applications at the Berlin based tech start-up. His »Natural Column Project« was the worlds first architectural free-form column, with an internal microstructure, that was derived through a structural simulation process and additively fabricated. Daniel has set up collaborations with industry leading firms such as: Voxeljet, AIRBUS Apworks and Uformia. Daniels work was exhibited on multiple international shows: Making a difference- A differnce in making, .3D Printshop NYC/London/Berlin, Materia Material Experience and Orgatec Cologne. His ideas have been published several times: designboom, Dezeen, 3D Printing Industry, Wallpaper magazine. Daniel received a Masters Degree in Architecture (with Distinction) from MSA Muenster School of Architecture, and completed a year in the M-Arch Program at PRATT Institute, NY. He worked as a Research Assistant at the Technical University of Braunschweig, Institute for Media and Design. Since 2012 Daniel is a Ph.D. Fellow at the University of the Arts Berlin, Department for Experimental and Digital Design. In 2014 he was also announced as a lecturer for Digital Design and Fabrication at MSA Muenster School of Architecture. Furthermore he taught and/or lectured within the academic context at: CITA Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, KOGE University of Innsbruck and AA Summer School Tel Aviv. In his research area he was invited to speak at e.g: Rapid Tech 14 Erfurt, 19. Rapid Prototyping HS OWL, UN Studio Knowledge Platform Amsterdam.
