Safety and cycle life are challenges impeding the implementation of large, high power Li-ion batteries. Kalptree Energy has developed a non-intrusive reference electrode sensor that changes the existing battery management paradigm by allowing the characterization of individual electrode voltages thereby enabling safer operation, longer life and greater useable discharge energy.

Speaker Biography (Mark J Isaacson)

Mark J. Isaacson is currently the Chief Scientist at Kalptree Energy where his responsibilities include development of solid state Li-ion batteries and reference electrode sensors using Kalptree's unique high rate, low cost vapor deposition processes. He was previously with Lockheed Martin, PolyStor, Valence Technology and WR Grace. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from UC Berkeley.
