Speaker Biography (Wasiq Bokhari)

Dr. Bokhari brings extensive entrepreneurial experience in adoption and commercialization of emerging materials and nanotechnology to BIOIDENT.
 
Wasiq Bokhari was a co-founder and managing partner of Quantum Insight. He worked with Fortune 500 companies on the adoption and commercialization of materials and nanotechnology with applications in energy, IT and medicine. Wasiq also works with entrepreneurs and early-stage startups in technology commercialization.
 
He is a serial entrepreneur with extensive experience in the field of emerging materials and nanotechnology. He served as a strategic advisor to Chevron and was part of the team that built and grew Molecular Diamond Technologies, a new nanomaterials focused business unit. He also served as a strategic advisor to Hitachi in the areas of emerging electronics, energy and life sciences applications. He was part of the founding team and interim CEO of Kalinex Inc., a drug discovery instrumentation company. Prior to that, he Seite 2/3 was part of the founding team and Senior Vice President of Products of Clickmarks, an enterprise infrastructure software company, subsequently acquired by Semotus Solutions.
 
Wasiq received his Ph.D. in physics from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, under Nobel laureate Jerome Friedman. He was part of the team that discovered a fundamental particle called the top quark at the Fermi National Accelerator Laboratory in 1995. He is an author of more than 50 scientific and technical publications, and is cited as an inventor on 8 patents, granted and applied. He is also the co-founder and Steering Committee Chair of the MIT Stanford UC Berkeley Nanotechnology Forum. Wasiq has worked with PCAST (Presidential Council of Advisors on Science and Technology) on issues related to energy. PCAST is the highest civilian body that advises the US President on issues in science and technology.
