China starts to standardize RFID air interface
According to a report published 23 September 2005, ISO/IEC 18000 RFID standards will be included in China's national standards plan of 2005. The ISO standards will be transformed to a national standard by two major drafters of the standard -- the Article Numbering Center of China (ANCC) and the Electronic Industry Standardization Institute of the Ministry of Information Industry (MII). AIM China will participate in the drafting of the standard and anticipates completion of the work in 2006.

This is a significant event insofar as China's current RFID regulations (and, in some cases, the lack of specific regulations) severely limit the acceptable use of any type of RFID in that country.
