The world's fastest electric ship, the Candela P-12 Shuttle, is set to hit Stockholm's waters next year, heralding a new era of transport. The innovative hydrofoiling electric ferry will reduce emissions and slash commuting times - and the city believes it will make waterborne public transport more attractive than trains, buses, and cars.

After selling more than 100 units in the US and Europe, Candela is now entering the French market thanks to an exclusive partnership with the leading recreational boat reseller Sud Plaisance. Candela C-8 will make its French debut with the aim to change boating for the better on the Côte d'Azur.

The shift to zero emission boats and ships has been hampered by the enormous energy consumption and correspondingly low range of conventional electric boats. Flying on computer-guided underwater wings -- known as hydrofoils -- that reduce energy consumption by 80% compared to conventional planing craft, Candela's vessels soar above the waves in silence with 2-3 times longer endurance than the best conventional electric powerboats.
