Alma Clean Power

Alma Clean Power

Profile
Alma Clean Power is building containerized SOFC modules for the marine, oil and gas sectors. It is based out of Norway and is the first venture to be launched out of Clara Venture Labs. Alma's containerized modules act as building blocks to create MW scale systems. The containers include all balance of plant equipment and safety systems. Few specifications are known, but the high-temperature solid oxide solutions are "fuel flexible" and Alma states can be designed to work with ammonia, hydrogen, LNG, LPG and more. Its technology has been developed over 30+ years of research (Alma claims it installed its first offshore fuel cell in 1991).

Its first project is EU funded under the SHIPFC partnership. Alma will supply an ammonia powered SOFC which will be retrofitted on an LNG-battery hybrid OSV called Viking Energy, owned by equinor. It will be the first ammonia-powered ship, and first SOFC ship, in the world.
