LiDAR maker synonymous with autonomous vehicle development

Velodyne is a well funded (>$500 million) LiDAR supplier that is now listed on the NASDAQ. Its main focus is on cylindrical shaped 3D scanning LiDARs, however the solid-state Vellarray would be a direct competitor for ibeo's products

Velodyne is also looking to reduce the sizing and cost of LiDARs. Their cheapest product, the Velarray H800, is priced at $500, however, it is not clear if this is in production and if this is a mass-production price. Their more expensive products will be in the $1,000s and $10,000s. Velodyne products are generally much higher resolution and produce 3D images with verticle field of view which requires larger, more complicated and more expensive hardware.
