Lely is the market leader in robotic milking. It has had products on the market for the past 20 years. Its approach is similar to miRobot in that the robotic arm using a projected image to calculate its distance and find the teat, do the disinfection and milking and then release. The difference however is that this is a full robotic system/solution that is installed in a dairy farm. It therefore requires change to the structure and layout of the farm and is not a drop-in solution into existing structures. Lely's solution also includes feeding steps which is required in order to incentivise the cow to enter the milking station
