The Electric Future of Construction: EV Machines On The Rise

The construction machine industry is in its early stages of electrification. Virtually all leading OEMs now produce some electric machines and governments are passing regulations to push this further. The rate of development is accelerating year-on-year as the industry approaches a real take-off point.

Electric machines can operate with zero local emissions, provide better working conditions for construction crews, and run with far lower operating costs than diesel. However, they require large battery packs to complete a full day's work while meeting the rigorous demands of the job site - which comes at a high upfront cost. How these costs and savings compare to impact the total cost of ownership (TCO) of machines will determine the future direction of the construction industry.

In this webinar, IDTechEx will share research findings from its new "Electric Vehicles in Construction 2024-2044: Technologies, Players, Forecasts" report, and discuss:
  • An overview of the construction machine industry
  • Drivers for electrification and current government legislation
  • Comparisons of electric and diesel machine performance
  • Analysis of total cost of ownership (TCO) benefits of electric machines
  • Batteries for the construction machine industry
