Speaker Biography (Norman Mottram)

Norm Mottram is currently the VP of Business Development for Phase IV Engineering, Incorporated. With 20+ years experience in technology and business development, he is responsible for leveraging Phase IV's technology to enable asset tracking and monitoring, with a focus on next generation applications like Sense and Respond Systems.

In his early career, Norm trained as an engineer and worked in the defense contractor industry and for IBM. He moved into management and led the operations and development teams for two different companies in the medical device industry. As his career progressed, he joined the senior management of a test and processing equipment manufacturer initially in charge of technology and operations, then moving into business development. During this time Norm developed an interest in machine monitoring and machine-to-machine (M2M) communication. This interest in machine monitoring led Norm to co-found a start-up company focused on wireless mesh asset monitoring and tracking. This start-up designed and developed demonstration asset tracking and monitoring system for a Department of Defense contractor. In 2005, he joined Phase IV Engineering to continue this work and expand the scope of the technology.

Norm received his BSEE from the University of Glasgow (Scotland) and an MBA from the Daniels College of Business at the University of Denver.
