Speaker Biography (Xuesong Li)

Dr. Xuesong Li received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Tsinghua University, China, in 2000 and 2003 respectively. In 2007 he was conferred a Ph.D. degree in Materials Science and Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His Ph.D. research focused on the synthesis and applications of carbon nanotubes.
He pursued postdoctoral research at The University of Texas at Austin in 2007 and then joined the IBM T. J. Watson Research Center in 2010 again focusing on the synthesis and applications of graphene. Dr. Li was the first author of "Large-area synthesis of high-quality and uniform graphene films on copper foils" (Science, 2009), which was chosen as one of the runners-up for Breakthrough of the Year 2009 by Science and was cited by Scientific Background on the Nobel Prize in Physics 2010.
In 2012, Dr. Li co-founded Bluestone Global Tech where he currently serves as VP of Advanced Materials.
