Presentation Summary

The healthcare sector is changing to embrace the interconnectivity of the Internet of Things for more proactive patient health management. The rapid development of sensing devices for Wireless Body Area Networks is opening opportunities for continuous health monitoring in the patient's home or in the place of care provision. Ilika has developed a range of safe solid state batteries with long life, mm-scale size and low leakage current which can power next generation medical implantables sensing devices from neurostimulators, cardiac rhythm monitor or blood pressure sensors. This presentation will review challenges and solutions in powering such devices.
