Printed Electronics by Flexography (Printed Electronics Europe 2008)

Dr Eifion Jewell obtained a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at University of Wales Swansea before studying for a PhD in the field of computational fluid dynamics and laser based flow measurement. He then undertook a position in the Welsh Centre for Printing and Coating (WCPC) focusing on improving productivity and quality in screen printing. Having been at WCPC for 14 years he is now a senior research officer and is responsible for research into areas of printing for electronic and bio mirco fabrication and ink technology. More recently he has taken a position in with UKDL (www.ukdisplay.net) based in the WCPC to foster closer links between academia and industry for plastic electronics, printed flexible displays and printed lighting manufacture.

WCPC is a world renowned research centre dedicated to advancing the understanding and productivity of printing and coating as a manufacturing process. WCPC develops novel manufacturing techniques using printing and applies its scientific findings to the benefit of its global industrial partners. WCPC has en extensive development programme in printed electronics and is recognised as a one of the 5 centres of excellence for plastic electronics in the UK.
