Ultrathin, highly elastic skin display
A new ultrathin, elastic display that fits snugly on the skin can show the moving waveform of an electrocardiogram recorded by a breathable, on-skin electrode sensor. Combined with a wireless communication module, this integrated biomedical sensor system - called "skin electronics" - can transmit biometric data to the cloud.

Quantum dots now showing their true colours
Quantum dots are making some serious inroads in the display industry. This was very apparent at SID Display Week this month, where several quantum dot LCD panels were showcased. Is this the technology that will beat OLED in the TV market? Maybe, but some questions still need to be answered.

Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) was founded in 1876 and is one of the largest printing companies in the world. They have started diversifying from traditional printing. This profile focuses on the low power paper-like display. The display is aimed for large sizes and is ideally segmented rather than full active matrix. It is reflective, meaning that it can be viewed most easily in bright light conditions, and has a viewing angle of 180 degrees.

T+ink has announced a new partnership with Dai Nippon Printing Co., Ltd (DNP). Based in Tokyo, DNP's core business is printed materials, including books, magazines, catalogs and packaging.

Printed Electronics in Japan (part I)
From July through September 2013 we have visited 35 companies and interviewed many delegates at our Printed Electronics Asia event in Tokyo as well as reviewing the lectures and talking to the lecturers. This article shares some of the trends in Japanese printed electronics and allied subjects that have emerged. It is only a taster from the huge database of information acquired and interpreted by IDTechEx analysts. Over the years, the task has been made difficult by the Japanese predilection for changing company names and this cannot help their business activity.

Dai Nippon Printing (DNP) was founded in 1876 and is one of the largest printing companies in the world. DNP also have enormous expertise in photography, which DNP is leveraging to offer transparent conductive films. DNP manufactures ITO-on-glass and ITO-on-PET. The films are pre-patterned with double side coating. DNP has also developed transparent conductive films based on copper metal mesh and another option based on silver nanowires.
