MU is one of the nation's top-tier R1 institutions by US News and a RU/VH (research university with very high research activity) by Carnegie Foundation. It is also a member of the Association of American Universities (AAU), composed of 62 leading research-intensive universities in the North America. MU is one of only six public universities in the US with medicine, veterinary medicine, and law all on one campus.
