Electric Vehicle Charging Site Architecture

09 December 2024 by Shazan Siddiqi
Distributed and all-in-one electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions represent two different approaches to EV charging infrastructure site architecture. IDTechEx research finds a trend in moving from all-in-one units to distributed architectures that offer better modularity, scalability, redundancy, and maintenance. Fleets are choosing this solution as it is ideal for them, while for EV OEMs and charge point operators (CPO) operating public charging forecourts, all-in-one units could sometimes make sense due to their smaller footprint and integrated design. This premium article analyses both architectures and benchmarks some all-one-units.
