Volvo Technology is the research and innovation center of the Volvo Group which is one of the world's largest truck and heavy-duty engine manufacture. Michael has a long experience in fuel and combustion research for Diesel engines and other energy conversion systems. He joined Volvo Technology in 2004 and was prior to his present position responsible for combustion system and fuels research at Volvo Technology. Michael has a master degree in chemistry from the University in Kaiserslautern in Germany and holds a PhD in physics from Lund University in Sweden. Michael also spent two years at the University of Cambridge, UK, as a Junior Research Fellow in Chemical Engineering and one year at the UC Berkeley as a Humboldt research fellow in mechanical engineering.
