Passive Sensor Transponders - Wireless, Battery-Free Sensing With RFID Technology (Internet of Things Applications Europe 2018)

This talk will give an overview on battery-free, wireless UHF RFID sensor transponders. We will introduce the general concept, show advantages, limitations and typical use cases. This is followed by an overview of the integration of RFID devices in industrial networks using OPC-UA (Auto ID companion specification) and how this can be extended for sensor transponders. Finally the talk will show some real-world applications of these technologies in passive sensor transponder systems.
