Presentation Summary

  • Oregon is in the top 10 states in both wind and solar energy; we will soon be in the top 5 in wind with the largest windfarm in the world.

Speaker Biography (Michael W Grainey)

Mike Grainey is Renewable Energy Advisor to the Director of the Oregon Business Development Department in Salem, Oregon. He works on policies to encourage businesses which develop and use renewable energy and other clean energy technologies, including electric vehicles and energy-efficient building practices.
 
Between 2002 and 2009 Mike was Director of the Oregon Department of Energy in Salem, Oregon. He managed the Department's efforts to site large energy facilities, operate state and federal incentive programs to promote energy conservation and renewable resources, and implement state energy policy.
 
Mike graduated from New York University Law School and received his undergraduate degree from Gonzaga University in Spokane, Washington. He is admitted to practice law in Oregon, Washington and the District of Columbia. Mike's civic activities currently include coaching speech for Blanchet High School in Salem. He has also coached youth and mid-high soccer, served on the board of the Salem Chamber Orchestra, and has chaired his church's social justice committee. He and his wife Mary have four children, ages 13 through 23.
