Cellulose biosensor material for advanced tissue engineering
Researchers have developed a new imaging approach for tissue engineering. A team produced so-called 'hybrid biosensor' scaffold materials, which are based on cellulose matrices labeled with pH- and calcium-sensitive fluorescent proteins. These materials enable visualization of the metabolism and other important biomarkers in the engineered artificial tissues by microscopy.
