E Ink is the originator, and commercial leader in ePaper technology. E Ink was spun out of the MIT Media Labs as a startup in Cambridge MA in 2007 and its microencapsulated electrophoretic display technology is now the display of choice for eBook readers and electronic shelf labels, and in increasing use in wearables, signage and IoT. These displays are reflective, fully bistable, and capable of maintaining an image for years with no power. The flexible front planes are coated roll to roll kilometers at a time. Worldwide operations include R&D facilities in the US, Taiwan, and Japan and manufacturing in the US, Taiwan, and China.

E Ink Awarded World First ePaper Module Carbon Footprint Verification

E Ink announced that the carbon footprint of their 6.8 inch ePaper module for eReaders and their 2.9 inch ePaper module for electronic shelf labels have been verified by the British Standards Institution as being in compliance with the ISO 14067:2018 standard. The carbon footprint of every 6.8 inch ePaper module is 3.30 kg CO2; every 2.9 inch ePaper module is 0.59 kg CO2e.

E Ink has announced the launch of E Ink Gallery 3, a next generation of color ePaper for the eReader and eNote markets. E Ink Gallery 3 is based on the E Ink ACeP Advanced Color ePaper platform. E Ink Display Technology First to Receive Dark Sky Certification

E Ink has received the Dark Sky Certification from the International Dark Sky Association. E Ink is the first display technology to be certified through the IDA. As a reflective technology, E Ink displays do not emit any light, and rely on the ambient lighting around them to be viewed. For night viewing, a simple, small LED strip can illuminate the display without the need for significant wasteful stray light that disrupts the neighborhood or the environment.
