IDTechEx caught up with Asahi Kasei at The Battery Show North America 2023, where the company were showcasing various products for electric vehicle (EV) pack fire protection and Li-ion battery separators.

2022 saw the aerogels market take a large leap forward with the success of electric vehicle (EV) batteries as an application. Historic growth has been steady for other applications, but with the growth fuelled by the EV market, there is the opportunity for several other applications to take advantage of the scaling production volume.

Electrification in the US is at an earlier stage than other regions globally but has made huge progress over the last few years, with electric cars making up nearly 9% of new registrations in the first half of 2023. Eisenhuth is a German company specializing in the manufacture of bipolar plates and gaskets/seals for fuel cells, electrolyzers and redox flow batteries.

Heraeus Precious Metals (subsidiary of Heraeus Group) is a leading company in the refining of platinum group metals (PGMs) and production of PGM products. Its products are used in a wide range of industries including automotive, chemicals, semiconductor, energy, and others. This profile focuses on Heraeus Precious Metals' product offering for the hydrogen economy, specifically on PEMEL/FC and ammonia cracking catalysts.
