Hydrogels for Beginners

Gels are often defined as colloids (aggregates of fine particles dispersed in a continuous medium) in which the liquid medium has become viscous enough to behave more or less as a solid but 3D polymerised versions that can have jelly-like behaviour should be included. Hydrogels are not colloids but forms of these 3D crosslinked polymers that can hold at least 10% water.
