KalpTree Energy is a start-up based in Livermore, California that has developed a new low cost, high rate vapor phase process that is ideal for depositing battery materials. KalpTree is currently developing both solid-state Li-ion batteries and reference electrode sensors using this technology. KalpTree's solid-state Li-ion batteries can be scaled down to very thin form factors with little energy density loss making it ideal for markets such as flexible electronics. Kalptree's reference electrode promises to change current battery management strategies and improve safety, cycle life and available discharge energy.
