Designing The Wearables Of The Future (Wearable USA 2016)

System-on-Chip (SoC) innovation is essential for the successful development of next-generation wearable health and fitness applications. However, creating a custom board with sensors can be complex. This session will talk about some of the pain points faced by designers when validating concepts and building prototypes before starting any field trials or evaluating existing solutions. The session will also talk about technology trends in wearable devices and provide an example of how designers can quickly validate their concepts and achieve fast time to market.

The session will provide helpful information on how to eliminate the extra 3-6 months it typically takes to develop a prototype, so that they can quickly and easily evaluate and validate the right solution for their applications. It will discuss pain points that many in the industry face as they work on their designs, while also exploring some solutions that may help them.

Andrew Baker joined Maxim Integrated in 2009. He has more than 20 years of experience in the electronics industry in roles ranging from development engineering to sales as well as business/product management. In his current role, he is responsible for leading Maxim's wearable solutions initiatives for sensors and power management, as well as multiple other product lines. Andrew holds a Bachelor's degree with honors in electronic engineering from the University of Portsmouth, UK.
