IDTechEx recently saw a presentation by AVL (the world's largest independent company for the development, simulation and testing of powertrain systems) at the Future Powertrain Conference in Birmingham, where they confirmed that they were working on the development of a H2 ICE engine. Their roadmap indicated that they are prototyping their technology on their H2 test bed in 2020/2021 with plans for deploying it in an off-road demonstration vehicle (large mining equipment) in 2022.
