The automotive industry is currently transitioning to both electric and autonomous vehicles, creating extensive opportunities for many new technologies. Printed/flexible electronics are particularly well suited to automotive applications, with opportunities across the vehicle interior, exterior and powertrain. For example, the ability to make electronics on thin flexible substrates enables weight to be reduced, a key consideration for electric vehicles, while the conformality associated with flexible electronics is highly suited to emerging interior design trends in which organic curves replace flat surfaces.
