Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the AWE 2020 event in California was held digitally instead of in-person. The event was held between 26th-29th of May 2020, and was attended by IDTechEx Analyst Dr. Charlotte Coles.

It is meaningful to analyse sensors in terms of industries. For example, the miniaturised multi-sensor platforms of mobile phones and smart watches in the consumer electronics industry have much in common with those in the broader concepts of the Internet of Things which is largely focussed on the healthcare, energy and manufacturing sectors.
