The Opportunity for Nanocarbons in the Construction Industry

20 October 2023 by Dr Conor O'Brien
Nanocarbons have long been utilised as reinforcing agents in polymers, with a notable example being carbon black in car tires. By reinforcing the bulk material, either less of the original material can be used for the same purpose, or the original material can be used for new applications with improved performance. This premium article covers the use of nanocarbons (graphene and CNTs) in concrete and asphalt, detailing the opportunity and pain points and giving an overview of some key players.
