Although ABB has its own cobots, IDTechEx would not really call them direct competitions because of two reasons: (1) cobots only take a very small part of ABB's business and (2) ABB's cobots have a high entry bar. ABB (also the other large robot makers) does not focus on cobots, primarily because of the relatively thin profit margins. Therefore, IDTechEx was told that ABB (and other large robot players) only supply cobots to their existing customers as a supplement, meaning that not every retail customer would have access to the cobots of these large companies.
