Grafentek
Formed in 2010. Silicon anode technology licensed technology from Argonne National Laboratories. Graphene technology licensed from Berkeley. Run on government and self funds grants between 2010-2013, but they are now seeking strategic investment. 2013 they started setting up a pilot process in California.
Confused message on the use of graphene. They have an agreement with the largest graphite producer in China and tell us that graphene will not be cost competitive for another 5 years. Yet they are working with graphene, have a licensed, have tested many suppliers and have an agreement with the National Graphene Institute in Manchester.
They do not use tubes or nanowires. They seem to buy graphene and add the silicon to it in a 'CVD type reactor' process. The silicon, we are told, does not 'sit on the surface' but forms of a 'composite' They believe their technique is more scalable than all their competitors
