Optomec
Optomec are a 3D printer manufacturer based in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They offer two products: Aerosol Jet and a laser-based Direct Energy Deposition (DED) system for 3D printing metals named LENS. IDTechEx spoke with Optomec at Formnext 2023 to discuss their LENS systems and business.

Optomec Announces Delivery of 600th Industrial Printer
Optomec announced another important milestone in its continued growth, with the delivery of its 600th industrial 3D printer. The company has now installed more than 250 of its proprietary LENS Systems for 3D Printed Metal and over 350 of its patented Aerosol Jet Systems, with the majority of its recent machines being used for high ROI production applications.

Optomec Customer Carnegie Mellon Develops 10-Second COVID Test
Researchers have developed a low-cost sensor that can identify COVID-19 antibodies in approximately 10 seconds. The novel sensor is based on a special structure of tiny gold electrodes that are 3D printed using the Optomec Aerosol Jet process.

Ceradrop and Optomec Expand Partnership
Optomec, a global supplier of 3D Additive Manufacturing systems has expanded its current distribution partnership with Ceradrop, a MGI Group company. Under the expanded agreement, Ceradrop will now integrate core Aerosol Jet Sprint technology into their line of inkjet printers, while continuing their role as reseller of Optomec standard Aerosol Jet systems in France. Aerosol Jet, combined with Inkjet technology, brings new and complementary capabilities, permitting printing of finer features and processing of a wider variety of materials, all in a unique digital material deposition platform.
