Sakti3 also wants to revolutionise Li-ion production by targeting cheaper factory set-up and the elimination of inactive materials. Sakti3 was founded about 3 years before 24M and was recently acquired by Dyson PLC. Both companies are targeting the grid market, but Sakti3's technology is also suitable for microbatteries.

Sakti3 is a company developing solid-state batteries. They were founded in 2007 by current CEO Dr. Ann Marie Sastry, who was then a professor at the University of Michigan. Sakti3 was recently acquired by Dyson for $90m.

Sakti3 Third generation batteries backed
Earlier this year, the University of Michigan traction battery spinoff Sakti3, inc. announced $7 million in second round of venture funding led by capital firm Beringea, in addition to Khosla. Now G.M. Ventures has invested $3.2 Million in the company. Vloet/University of Michigan Professor Ann Marie Sastry of the University of Michigan is chief executive of Sakti3.
