Seeo, Inc

Seeo was founded in 2007 by researchers from the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL), including Nitash Balsara, Hany Eitouni, and Mohit Singh. The company was built on the foundation of a nanostructured solid polymer electrolyte technology developed at LBNL. This technology, later branded as "DryLyte," utilized a block copolymer that combined safety, non-flammability, and high energy density. The solid electrolyte allowed the use of lithium-metal anodes, which offered significantly higher theoretical capacities compared to conventional graphite anodes.

Schott AG

The German company renowned for its expertise in glass and glass-ceramics, Schott, began its journey into SSB technology in 2011 when the company recognized the growing importance of energy storage and sought ways to apply its material expertise to overcome the limitations of conventional lithium-ion batteries. At a time when SSBs were not widely discussed in Europe or the U.S., Schott initiated research into solid electrolytes, particularly focusing on glass-ceramic materials.

In December 2017, Toyota Motor Corporation and Panasonic Corporation agreed to start studying the feasibility of a joint automotive prismatic battery business. On 22nd January 2019, Toyota Motor and Panasonic announced that they had signed an agreement to establish a joint venture, Prime Planet, for the automotive prismatic battery business, focusing on R&D, production technology, manufacturing, procurement, orders and management of automotive prismatic lithium-ion batteries, all-solid-state batteries, and next-generation batteries.
