Connected Energy have now delivered a number of projects utilising a range of 2nd life EV batteries amounting to several MW of installed capacity. These systems range from 60kW to 1.2MW.
Systems deployed by Connected Energy use a range of different battery types from several OEMs and provide a multiple value streams. What are the lessons learned and considerations for the industry as it develops?
Speaker Biography (Mark Bailey)
Mark was appointed Chief Commercial Officer at Connected Energy from October 1st, 2018.
Prior to joining Connected Energy, Mark was living and working in Paris as Global Key Program Director for Demand Side Management and Storage at ENGIE and Senior Domain Director for ENGIE New Ventures.
Mark had been with ENGIE, formerly GDF Suez for 18 years, moving to Paris 11 years ago. In that time, he was appointed Head of Global Energy, responsible for the European Key Accounts business unit and leading their transition to energy solutions. Prior to Engie, Mark was a co-founder of RWE Trading Direct Ltd., and a pioneer of the first demand response initiatives with Yorkshire Electricity in the mid-90s.
Mark graduated from Kellogg Business School at Northwestern University, Chicago in 2000 and holds a Business Studies degree.

Connected Energy (CE) are headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, UK. The company operates in Europe to provide and enable second-life battery energy storage systems (BESS) and began working in this market in 2013. Connected Energy has collaborative relationships with multiple EV OEMs including Renault, Jaguar Land Rover and Nissan. Since 2016 Connected Energy has been selling its E-STOR technology that utilises second life EV batteries to provide stationary energy storage largely for use by industrial and commercial customers. E-STOR systems ranging from 60kW to 1.2MW are already in operation and Connected Energy is now scaling these up for systems and projects of around 20 MW.
