Presentation Summary

Canada is a relatively new comer to the field of Printable Electronics (PE). However, with targeted government investments and coordination amongst all stakeholders in the science and technology ecosystem, combined with a strong focus on commercialization of industry relevant and product driven technology building blocks, the Canadian Printable Electronics community aims at capturing a significant share of this emerging growth market. The presentation will cover recent developments in PE in Canada and highlight examples of successful collaborations in the field of new PE product introductions.

Speaker Biography (Thomas Ducellier)

Thomas Ducellier is the Executive Director of the National Research Council Canada's flagship program on Printable Electronics (PE). The $70M 5 year ½ initiative aims at growing a successful PE industry in Canada by developing and transferring to industrial partners relevant market leading technology building blocks in new inks, new printing processes and new printed device designs. Prior to joining NRC, Mr. Ducellier founded and led three technology start-ups in optical telecommunications, scientific instrumentation for mining and solar energy generation. Before that, he worked as project leader, technical manager and director R&D with large public companies in Europe (Alcatel-Lucent) and Canada (JDSU). Mr. Ducellier got a Master in Physics from École Polytechnique in Palaiseau, France, in 1992 and a Master in Electrical Engineering from École Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Paris, France, in 1994.
