Enter the Printed Electronics Europe awards, closing date 18 March

The IDTechEx Printed Electronics Europe conference and exhibition will take place on 27 & 28 April at the Estrel convention center in Berlin. This is the only event focused on the commercialisation of printed, organic and flexible electronics.

Poietis

Poietis have developed the laser-assisted printing of bio-ink containing living human cells and a dispersive media to create 3D human tissue models for in vitro testing. It is developing skin models in collaboration with BASF for testing cosmetics, to be commercialised during 2016.

eMagin

eMagin Corporation develops and manufactures OLED microdisplays in the USA. eMagin has secured a number of patents for OLED microdisplay technologies, optical systems and head-worn display technologies, including direct emission OLED microdisplays that do not require color filters. IDTechEx senior analyst Dr Guillaume Chansin summarises their activities in this profile.

InVisage Technologies

InVisage is a pioneer in hybrid CMOS image sensors. The company is based in Menlo Park, CA and has received over $100m in funding. InVisage has developed a technology called QuantumFilm, which is a light sensitive layer of quantum dots. Remi Lacombe presented their latest progress at the IDTechEx Sensors USA conference.

Event report: Electronic Display Conference 2016

IDTechEx gave a talk at the Electronic Display Conference in Nuremberg, Germany. The conference had more people than the previous edition and celebrated its 30th year, which reflects how important displays have become in our everyday life. The presentation from IDTechEx was on two disruptive technological trends in flat panel displays: quantum dots and flexible OLED.

Electric bus sector is game changer for battery market

The electric bus market is growing at a CAGR of 20% in terms of unit sales. The rapid growth is a game changer for the battery market as electric buses require large-sized batteries ranging from 74 kWh (fast charging e-bus) to over 300 kWh (slow charging e-bus).
