Speaker Biography (V K K Anand)

With Master's in Botany and doctorate in Library and Information Science, I am in the Library profession for last thirty-four years. Presently, I am working for Panjab University, Chandigarh Library in the capacity of University Librarian. Recipient of Administrative Traveling Fellowship awarded by Association of Commonwealth Universities, London: I am also associated with teaching of library science with specialization is Management and Information Technology. I am member of Academic Council and Research Degree Committee (Library Science)

Panjab University Library with more than 6.6 lakh volumes, 14000 members, staff strength of more than one hundred; is one of the biggest libraries of India. Housed in five storeyed building in red stone and concrete, the library can accommodate 600 readers. All the operations of library are fully computerized and it is connected with seventy-five teaching departments through Local Area Network. This is the first library in India with such a huge collection to introduce RFID technology.
