We are developing a technology platform that exploits the biocompatible features of monolayer graphene to record wound evolution and enable remote monitoring of healing. Our flexible wearable patch is based on the integration of a monolayer graphene polycrystalline layer back-bonded onto a biocompatible polymer layer. The resulting film can directly be applied onto the bed-wound and is inserted inside a commercial bandage. The biosensing devices are based on flexible graphene transistors, which continuously records the state of the wound, avoiding opening the dressing.
Vincent Bouchiat is the president and Chief Scientific officer of Grapheal. Before leaving academia for entrepreneurship, Vincent was a senior scientist at Neel Institute CNRS Grenoble. He co-authored more than 100 articles in peer-reviewed journals and 7 patents, focussing in Molecular Electronics. He received the Miller Award from University of California, Berkeley in 2007, and the Lee Hsun Research Award from the Chinese Academy of Sciences (2017).
Grapheal is a recently established medtech company, spin-off from National Research Center (CNRS) in Grenoble, France. it focuses on wearables for biodata acquisition and aims at providing novel generation of devices to monitor and improve the treatment of chronic diseases that require long-term care. Our solutions are combining together novel electronic materials, embedded wireless electronics, software data analysis and medical cloud IoT technologies. In particular Grapheal targets chronic wounds by providing healing and monitoring in a connected bandage.
