International and national (Class and flag) certification bodies for marine requirements and challenges meeting them. Unlike other functional safety methodologies that will accept theoretical safety performance provided by system and component analysis, marine certification requires empirical test data as well as FMEA information before type approving a system. Tests include demonstrating how under all circumstances, the system can prevent the propagation of a single cell thermal event through out the pack. The presentation will cover basic class requirements, the commonly used mitigation strategies and potential avenues of future work to maintain safety at reduced cost.
After graduating from the university of Hertfordshire in '92 as an automotive design engineer, Tunji's early professional life focused on vehicle design in both the UK and Germany. Moving to Denmark in '97 Tunji transitioned into the world of sound and vibration measurement and instrumentation where he worked in technical sales and product management. In 2009 Tunji moved into renewable energy working with energy storage, e-mobility and wind turbines. Tunji is currently the bids and tenders manager for e-marine at Leclanché SA (Switzerland).
